About The Glass Tongue Contest

About The Theme

For the Glass Tongue contest, we were seeking work that reflected on the themes of truth and equity in our current sociopolitical climate. We wanted stories that challenge the status quo, pieces that investigate what happens when truth is twisted, ignored, or hidden, and how individuals or communities fight for justice in the face of adversity. Whether you wrote about personal experiences, historical injustices, or speculative futures, we encouraged you to engage with questions of morality, the role of institutions, the struggles of marginalized voices, and the pursuit of accountability. This creative challenge was an opportunity to critically examine justice - what it means, how it’s served, and where it fails. We were looking for work that stirs thought and creates dialogue. It can be disheartening to see negative news day in and day out and feel the helplessness as if it were a real, tangible thing. This contest aimed to realize the creativities of our youth into a form of help. Your voice matters now more than ever, as does your art. With that being said, thank you kindly to all our participants. The Glass Tongue contest is now closed: find our art and photography winners below.

About The Charities

Every submission you make to the Glass Tongue contest helps make a difference! For each entry, Luxury Literature will contribute $10 to a charity fund. Once the contest closes, all the funds raised will be evenly split between sixteen impactful charities. Participating in these creative challenges is a simple way to contribute without needing to donate yourself. We understand that youth can often feel powerless, especially in times of uncertainty, but your voice matters. By joining in, you're not only showcasing your talent but also helping those in need, amplifying the message of justice, and demonstrating that even small actions can create real change. Our charities include Islamic Relief for Sudan, Save The Children, Stonewall, Goonj, Safe Gigs for Women, Healing Venezuela, UN World Food Programme, Palestine's Children Relief Fund, Water.org, Immigrant Defenders Law Center, Medical Aid For Palestinians, World Animal Protection, Palestine Red Crescent Society, Palestine Charity Team, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Thank you to the magazines that collaborated with us for this issue. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Tea-Stained Literary, The Serendipity Archives, The Shuffle Magazine, Simmer Zine, The Ivy, Beyond The Quill, Rewrite the Stars Review, Utopia Archived, Into Hinterland Literary, Cherrypicked Magazine, Terra Arcana, The Lycian, & Dolce Zine. Don't miss out on celebrating the achievements of our art and photography winners in this inspiring initiative!

About THE SPREAD

About The Theme

This collaboration, themed around Tarot, is titled The Spread, a clever play on the dual meaning of a spread of cards and a spread in a magazine. A standard Tarot deck consists of 78 cards, including 22 significant cards known as the Major Arcana, which represent broad human concepts. In this project, each magazine engaged in creative challenges by adopting one of these 22 archetypes, except for us, the host. We chose to embody two, THE HIGH PRIESTESS and THE EMPEROR, as part of the Glass Tongue contest that celebrates art and photography winners.

OUR COLLABORATORS

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to The Reverie Issue, Chateau Lit, Sonder Literary, Gatherer Grove Magazine, Writer Girlies Magazine, Beatrice Literary Magazine, The Chai Magazine, Aereve, The Serendipity Archives, Souls Anthology, Vitaelia Literary, The Third Eye, Wabi Sabi Literary, Utopia Magazine, Itzines, The Cassiopeia Review, Tea-Stained Literary, Meridian Literary, Dyonyzine, and Kintsugi Review for their participation in this magazine, which celebrates the art and photography winners of our creative challenges, including the Glass Tongue contest.
